A Guitar, a set of Drums, and a Bass, are simply essential tools of the trade.
Yet, in the right hands, charming, sweet, raw, aggressive, even copious emotions flow from these tools, almost as if by magic. There is no way to predict the outcome. Only by playin', jammin', and makin' music can musicians feel and hear the results. Four players have done this, and the result is "Dollar" Bill and the Spare Change.
The chemistry that makes for great music courses through their veins as an eight-lane highway flows through a major city. Fast, furious, and not always smooth, yet unyielding and absolutely necessary to arrive at an end to a journey. Each of their journeys has been long, mysterious, and frightfully slow at times. But, make no mistake. They have arrived, and this is their destiny.
It began with three solid players. All from the same area, one moves away to find fame and fortune, another takes an extended hiatus for family and business pursuits - and the third just keeps on keeping on.
Then the rumors start, isn't Bill back in town, ya but he's busy, naw he left that band, he's playin' with John, but, they need a bass player.
What'ya think of the guy we jammed with? Aw, he's playin' rock & roll. Are you sure? I hear he's looking for work.
I hear their jamming in a basement. Original stuff.
Then one night; they put those rumors to rest.A last minute deal. No advertising. But the rumors prevailed. The crowd came.
They heard the Blues.
"Dollar" Bill style Blues
The Spare Change style Blues
Dynamic, charismatic, and entertaining Blues.
Rumor is, the crowd loved them.
Naw, that's no rumor. Just a Fact!
That very first night, a man with keys, watched and listened.
A Hammond B3 is a lot to move around.
He figured it would be worth it though.
And after all nothing says the blues quite like a B3.
"Dollar" Bill and the Spare Change are Adults, guys that have been around, gaining hard earned experience at all the usual places. All are seasoned veterans of the music business, who got their stuff together years ago. Today they come together to create a dynamic Blues adventure that makes crowds come back for more.
For the love of the Blues. To make music the old fashioned way, with sweat and tears, hands and fingers, steel and wood. Forget the digital world, it has no place in Blues. Playin' the Blues is, raw, gritty, personal, emotional, and most importantly; Real.
